The meeting kicked off with a welcome speech by Dr. Neşen Sürmeli Anaç, Cool Up Programme Manager, followed by presentations on the latest trends in Türkiye’s cooling market. Kıvanç Aslantas, Technical Consultant at UNDP Türkiye’s, discussed sustainable cooling technologies, while Zuhal Ürgüplü Sanal from Frankfurt School of Finance highlighted financing opportunities and challenges associated with implementing these systems.

The meeting’s second session featured a panel discussion on the current state of Türkiye’s cooling industry, focusing on opportunities and challenges encountered during the transition towards sustainable cooling practices. The discussion also highlighted opportunities for gender equality in the sector. Esteemed panellists from sector associations such as Istanbul Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Industry Association (İSKİD), Aegean Region Industrialist and Businesspersons Association (ESSİAD), Southern Marmara Industrialist and Businesspersons Association (SOSİAD), and Turkish Society of HVAC and Sanitary Engineers (TTMD) shared valuable insights and engaged in fruitful discussions.

Following the panel discussion, a Q&A session provided attendees from both sectors with the opportunity to further explore the topics discussed throughout the day. Concluding the Thematic Group Meeting, UNDP Türkiye provided closing remarks, summarizing the key takeaways from the event. These takeaways and insights will be further explored and focused on during the upcoming period of the project.
