Highlights from the Chillventa 2024 Study Tour

The Chillventa Study Tour was organized with a focus on exchanging global expertise in sustainable cooling technology. This year, over 43 participants from the MENA region and Türkiye came together under the Cool Up programme banner to exchange industry insights and build connections across borders.

Connecting with key international industry players at the Chillventa Study Tour

The opening day introduced attendees to the latest advances in natural refrigerants, AC systems and commercial refrigeration through a guided tour organized by Cool Up’s consortium partner Öko-Recherche. Participants embarked on an informative tour to meet manufacturers and suppliers, exploring how natural refrigerants are reshaping the sector. The study tour provided the space for engaging in dialogues with key industry players, setting the stage for future collaboration.

“The future is about sustainable cooling. It is being implemented not only on a smaller scale but also on a very large industrial scale. We are expecting that in the upcoming couple of years in the MENA region the sustainable technologies will have a bigger share in the market.” Ahmad Abd El-Rasoul, RCREEE

Strengthening collaboration opportunities to support the implementation of sustainable cooling

On Day 2, the Chillventa Study Tour continued with a guided tour focusing on industry associations. Key highlights included discussions on the need for international cooperation and the potential for cross-border collaboration and knowledge exchange. Informal networking sessions organized throughout the study tour fostered not only professional connections but also a shared vision for the future of sustainable cooling solutions in the MENA region and Türkiye.

Sharing expertise at the Cool Up Cross-Country Technical Workshop

On the last day of the Chillventa Study Tour, participants engaged in a dynamic Cross-Country Technical Workshop, an essential capacity-building component of the tour, which connects the expertise on sustainable cooling from the MENA region and beyond. The workshop opened with an AC market overview, setting the stage for deep dives into regional cooling challenges and opportunities. Industry expert led discussions on topics such as Jordan’s commercial refrigeration landscape, development of National Cooling Action Plans and the financial landscape in the MENA region. A diverse range of presentations covered the process of retrofitting existing equipment with conventional HFC refrigerants to accommodate natural refrigerants and market needs. The interactive “Ask the Trainers” discussion panel provided participants with the chance to ask questions to experts implementing the solutions, fostering a collaborative exchange of knowledge.
