Advanced Online Training on Efficient Cooling Systems in Lebanon
Cool Up’s regional partner, the Regional Center for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (RCREEE), and Cool Up’s country partner in Lebanon, the Lebanese Center for Energy Conservation (LCEC), successfully conducted a four-day online training program on Efficient Cooling Systems. This training, part of the Cool Up program’s capacity building activities, was based on the PA-CEMP (Pan Arab Certified Energy Management Professionals) curriculum developed by RCREEE.
Held on 9th, 12th, 16th, and 19th of December 2024, the training brought together 27 engineers from Lebanon. Delivered by experts from RCREEE, the program aimed to enhance participants’ knowledge and skills in energy management, heating and cooling systems, and energy-efficient cooling. The training concluded with an evaluation exam on December 23rd to assess the acquired knowledge, and participants who completed the course received certificates of attendance.
Participants included representatives from RAHI&CO, Dar, Powertech SAL, TECMO, SAAB RDS, COMO FMS, GCE, YYReGen, RJR, INJAZ Lebanon, R8 Tech, NOW Energy Hub, Takom Energy, Manoukian EPOS, Syen, Grfn, Pharmaline, Tekmek Group, IPT Powertech, Arina Energy, and the Ministry of Industry.
The training covered a comprehensive range of topics related to energy-efficient cooling systems, including:
- Energy basics and efficiency
- Cooling systems and cycles
- Heat transfer and thermal energy management
- Energy audits
- Measurement and verification
- National policies in Lebanon
By leveraging the PA-CEMP curriculum, the training program ensured participants received a high-quality and standardized foundation in these core areas. The workshop aimed to empower participants to make informed decisions in the selection, design, and operation of cooling systems, ultimately contributing to reduced energy consumption and environmental impact within the Lebanese cooling sector.
The training program was well-received, with positive feedback from participants. Further training sessions are anticipated in 2025, utilizing an in-person format to enhance the learning experience.
