Jordan's Ministry of Environment cites Cool Up programme policy recommendations in development of national cooling plan
In a meeting on 4 August 2022, the Jordan Ministry of Environment Secretary General Dr. Mohammed Al Khashashneh discussed the preparation for the launch of Jordan’s national plan for sustainable air conditioning and refrigeration. In his discussion, Dr. Al Khashashneh cited that the national cooling plan will be developed according to the policy recommendations provided by the Cool Up programme.
Additionally, the meeting covered how current refrigerant gases being used in Jordan are not sustainable and that the country is following phasing out plans for these refrigerants in compliance with the Vienna Convention for the Protection of the Ozone Layer, and the ratification of the Montreal Protocol and its amendments, including the Kigali Amendment.
The Cool Up programme is thrilled to support the policy development in Jordan and our other partner countries, driving impact and accelerating change through upscaling sustainable cooling across the Middle East and North Africa region.
